Meal Ministry
There’s something special about gathering around a table. At First Lutheran Church, our Meal Ministry creates opportunities to build community, share hospitality, and care for one another through food.
Everyone is welcome to join us for our regular community meals:
- Second Tuesday Dinner – 5:00 p.m. each month
- Fourth Saturday Pancake Breakfast – 9:00 a.m. each month, featuring pancakes, eggs, and sausage
Beyond our monthly meals, the Meal Ministry prepares and serves food for church celebrations, special events, fundraisers, festivals, and funeral meals. Whether welcoming neighbors, celebrating milestones, or supporting families during difficult times, we believe sharing a meal is one way we share the love of Christ.

Cooperative Christian Services of Galion
First Lutheran Church hosts Cooperative Christian Services of Galion (CCSG), a ministry shared by area churches that serves individuals and families throughout the Galion community.
CCSG provides practical assistance to neighbors experiencing financial hardship, including help with food, emergency utility assistance, prescription assistance, and referrals to other community resources. Working together, local congregations demonstrate Christ’s love by caring for those in need with compassion, dignity, and respect.
The CCSG office is located inside First Lutheran Church and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00–3:00 p.m. Assistance is available to qualifying individuals living within Galion and Polk Township.
As a cooperative ministry, CCSG depends on the generosity of participating churches, volunteers, and community supporters to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Community Connections Expo
The Community Connections Expo is an annual event that brings together local organizations, businesses, nonprofits, and community agencies to showcase the resources and opportunities available throughout our area. Families can explore community services, connect with organizations, and enjoy a day filled with educational exhibits, interactive activities, and fun for all ages. From bike safety courses and child safety information to hands-on demonstrations and family entertainment, the Expo celebrates what it means to be a connected community.
The event also features a Car Show and Craft Show, with proceeds supporting local ministries and organizations that serve our neighbors. In 2026, funds raised through the Expo benefited the personal needs of residents at Galion Meadows and Project Noelle, an organization that supports children and families impacted by the opioid crisis.
First Lutheran Church coordinates this annual community event, working alongside local organizations to connect neighbors with valuable resources while supporting ministries that make a meaningful difference in our community.
Noisy Offering
Every month, First Lutheran Church collects a Noisy Offering—a special offering of loose change and dollar bills that reminds us even the smallest gifts can make a big difference. The joyful sound of coins filling the offering buckets is a reminder that, together, our generosity can have a lasting impact.
Each month, the offering is designated to a different ministry or organization, allowing us to support God’s work in many places:
- Locally, gifts have supported organizations such as Meals on Wheels and Christmas Adopt-a-Family programs, providing food, care, and hope to our neighbors.
- Regionally, offerings have benefited ministries like HopeWood Outdoors, helping people of all ages grow in faith through outdoor ministry.
- Nationally and internationally, the Noisy Offering has supported organizations such as Lutheran Disaster Response and Lutheran World Relief, providing disaster relief, development assistance, and long-term support for communities around the world.
No matter the amount, every coin and every dollar becomes part of a larger story of God’s love in action—serving our neighbors both nearby and around the world.
Congregational Care
At First Lutheran Church, we believe the Church is more than a place we gather on Sunday—it is a community of faith where we care for one another in Christ’s name. Congregational Care is one of the primary ways we live out Jesus’ command to “love one another” (John 13:34), ensuring that no one walks through life’s joys or challenges alone.
Through visits, phone calls, cards, prayer, and Holy Communion, we stay connected with members who are homebound, recovering from illness, grieving, celebrating milestones, or simply in need of encouragement. We also welcome new visitors and help them feel at home as they explore life in our congregation.
Whether offering a listening ear, sharing the Lord’s Supper, or lifting someone up in prayer, Congregational Care reflects our commitment to being a community where the love of Jesus Christ is experienced not only in worship but also in the everyday ways we care for one another.
